C64 Models

From the iconic breadbin to the modern FPGA recreation, every C64 model explained

Five decades of C64 design

The Commodore 64 appeared in several case designs and variants between 1982 and 1993. Each model reflects the spirit of its time.

With over 17 million units sold, the C64 is the best-selling home computer of all time. Those numbers are spread across several models: the original breadbin, the slimmer C64C, the simplified C64G, the keyboard-free C64GS and the modern Commodore 64 Ultimate.

Although each model looks different on the outside, they are all software-compatible. A game that runs on a 1982 breadbin works just as well on a 1990 C64C. That consistency is one of the reasons the C64 community remains active today.
