What is the THEA1200?
The THEA1200 is a full-size replica of the Commodore Amiga 1200, the iconic 16-bit home computer released in 1992. It is not a software emulator. Instead, it uses an FPGA-based Amiga chipset that recreates the original hardware logic directly, giving it accuracy and performance characteristics much closer to the real machine.
The machine comes with 25 pre-installed games covering highlights from the Amiga library, a full Workbench environment for desktop use, and support for WHDLoad files via USB. This gives access to a large part of the classic Amiga software catalogue without needing original floppy disks.
THEA1200 is made by Retro Games Ltd, the same company responsible for THEC64. Both products share the same design philosophy: a faithful physical recreation, modern connectivity via HDMI, and an expandable games library via USB.

THEA1200: Full-Size Design with Working Keyboard
Unlike the compact THEC64 Mini, the THEA1200 is built at full size from the start. The keyboard matches the original Amiga 1200 layout and is fully functional, making it possible to use the machine exactly as the original, including typing in software, navigating Workbench and programming.
The FPGA chipset inside recreates the custom chips of the original Amiga 1200, including the AGA graphics chipset. Video output is via HDMI at HD resolution with support for both 50 Hz and 60 Hz. A CRT filter option is available for those who prefer the visual character of a period-correct monitor.
Power is supplied via USB-C. The rear and side panels carry multiple USB ports for keyboards, mice, gamepads and storage devices. The included retro-style two-button mouse and 8-button gamepad connect via these ports.

25 THEA1200 Pre-Installed Games
The THEA1200 comes with 25 classic Amiga games installed. The selection covers a range of genres and represents some of the most celebrated titles from the Amiga library.
Beyond the pre-installed selection, the THEA1200 supports WHDLoad files loaded from USB storage. WHDLoad is the standard method for running classic Amiga games from hard drive images, covering thousands of titles from the full Amiga catalogue.
Selected pre-installed titles
- ▶Beneath a Steel Sky
- ▶Lure of the Temptress

THEA1200 announcement
Workbench environment included
The THEA1200 includes a Workbench environment, which means it works as a complete Amiga desktop computer, not just as a games console. You can browse files, run applications and use it exactly as the original Amiga 1200 was designed to be used.
Loading your own software via USB is supported through the WHDLoad system. Copy WHDLoad-compatible game or application packages to a USB stick, connect it to the THEA1200, and the content becomes available through the file browser. This opens up a very large portion of the classic Amiga catalogue.

What is included in the box?
The THEA1200 box contains everything needed to start playing immediately, with one notable exception: an AC adapter is not included. You will need to supply a suitable USB-C power adapter.
