C64 Wood Case
A hand-crafted wooden Commodore 64 by Atilla Meric
The Commodore 64 in wood
In 2020, maker Atilla Meric completed one of the most striking C64 case modifications ever built: a fully hand-crafted Commodore 64 in wood.
Starting from 3mm wooden sheets cut from blind slats, Meric recreated every panel of the C64C case in natural wood. The surface was treated with Pinotex oak finish and sealed with matte varnish, giving the finished machine a warm, furniture-grade appearance while remaining fully functional.
What makes this build particularly impressive is the attention to detail. Every port cutout, every curve, and every joint was measured against the original C64C dimensions. The result sits on a desk like a piece of designer furniture that also happens to run BASIC.

The build process
Meric documented the entire construction in a timelapse video, showing the process from raw wooden sheets through to the finished case. The video gives a clear sense of the precision involved: each panel is cut, sanded, fitted, and finished by hand.
He also built a matching wooden power supply enclosure, so the complete setup, computer and PSU, shares the same material and finish. A second timelapse covers the PSU build separately.
Materials used
- ▶3mm wooden sheets (cut from blind slats)

Technical blueprint
Meric created a precise side-view blueprint to ensure the wooden panels matched the original C64C dimensions exactly. The drawing served as the template for every cut.
